Why Plant-Based? Ask Us.

Because we get asked this a lot.
“Why plant-based? Dogs are carnivores, right? Don’t they need meat?”

Here’s our answer:

  • Protein, not mythology. Dogs don’t need meat, they need protein. Plant proteins like pea protein are clean, digestible, and kinder on sensitive stomachs than many animal proteins.
  • Compatibility. Meat proteins are a top trigger for allergies (chicken, beef, lamb, fish). Plant proteins? Far fewer problems, more predictable tolerance.
  • Storage that makes sense. Plant-based treats don’t need the preservatives, stabilisers or fat binders that meat does. That means a cleaner label and fewer nasties.
  • Cleaner to handle. No greasy pockets, no smelly hands, no meat dust. Just treats you can take anywhere.
  • Environmental sanity. Meat is water-hungry. Producing 1kg of beef protein can use up to 15,000 litres of water. Plant proteins? A fraction of that.
  • Lower risk. Plant-based ingredients carry less bacterial risk (think Salmonella, E. coli) than meat. Safer for you, safer for your dog.
  • Nicer to live with. It’s simple: less smell, less slime, more joy in the reward moment.

The Point

We’re not saying dogs should never eat meat. We’re saying meat doesn’t need to be in every. single. thing. Especially not a treat.

Plant-based is cleaner, safer, more sustainable and ethical — and when done right, just as tasty. Which is why we do it right.
